Ponsfu Industrial Signs International Three-Party MOU to Build a 20MW-Class AI Compute Center in Shiga, Japan

On April 22, Ponsfu Industrial Co., Ltd. formally announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOU) with Japan’s listed company Kitahama GRF Co., Ltd. and G-Tech Taiwan to jointly advance the construction of a 20MW-class GPU data center in the Katata area of Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture, Japan. The project is also backed by AI-server and liquid-cooling technology from a leading international vendor, symbolizing a historic step in Taiwan–Japan AI industry cooperation.

In this MOU, Ponsfu Industrial plays the key role of capital provider, leading the funding momentum of the entire data-center build and helping integrate upstream, midstream and downstream technology and market resources, putting into practice a deep combination of Taiwanese capital and Japanese technology.

Headquartered in Xitun, Taichung, Ponsfu Industrial is an integrated enterprise dedicated to bringing in international capital, technology investment and AI industry deployment. It has long focused on investment in emerging industries such as green energy, medical technology and artificial intelligence, and has built deep cooperative relationships with family offices and multinational corporations across Europe and Asia.

Deeply rooted in the capital market, Ponsfu Industrial is the force behind the international strategic cooperation on this Shiga data-center project. It not only provides the initial construction capital but will also bring in the investment and technology-assessment capability it has accumulated across Asia-Pacific, helping integrate AI compute operators, the GPU equipment supply chain and power infrastructure, demonstrating its strength and vision as an “AI strategic capital integrator.”

The collaboration has several highlights: Kitahama GRF, as a Japanese listed company, is responsible for the physical development, security and power-distribution preparation of the data-center site; G-Tech Taiwan serves as the designated GPU equipment supplier and introduces advanced liquid-cooling technology; Ponsfu Industrial leads the funding and operating structure, ensuring build efficiency and the extensibility of the future business model; and the project further combines a leading international vendor’s AI server hardware with immersion-cooling solutions to improve compute efficiency and optimize energy use.

The first phase of the project will deploy 33kV power supply and 20MW of power capacity, and will set up five major cluster zones with a total floor area of 3,000 square meters, able to hold more than 2,800 square meters of GPU installation space. The network backbone adopts a 400Gbps high-speed transmission design, fully benchmarked against the world’s highest-end AI training standards.

Chun-yu Yang, Chairman of Ponsfu Industrial, said: “We firmly believe that international cooperation on AI infrastructure is key to the next technological revolution. Having the opportunity to take part in an AI compute center project together with a Japanese listed company and the Taiwanese tech supply chain not only lays an important strategic foundation for Ponsfu Industrial in AI, but also highlights the leading role of Taiwanese capital in international AI industry cooperation.”

Looking ahead, the three parties will begin deeper technical and business negotiations and complete the formal contract signing in the near term, with the first phase of equipment deployment and trial operation expected to be completed in Q4 2025, jointly opening a new chapter in Taiwan–Japan AI infrastructure cooperation.
