“Why One Man Board”
I have not set up a private board of directors.
Not because I don’t believe in institutions,
but because at the truly critical moment —
no institution can bear the consequences for you.
When the market flips, funds withdraw, the direction is wrong,
when everyone is waiting for you to say a word,
you will find that however long the table,
in the end only you are left sitting there.
At that moment,
you are not the CEO;
you are the company’s last board of directors.
One Man Board does not mean power
It means responsibility.
It is not arrogance,
but an acknowledgment of a fact:
All important decisions ultimately cannot be outsourced.
You can outsource technology,
outsource marketing,
outsource consultants,
even outsource management processes,
but you cannot outsource “judgment.”
Because when you are wrong,
the market will not look for a consultant,
the bank will not look for the team,
and investors will not look for the process.
They will look only for you.

Because success has no standard answer.
