Yunlin County’s Dacheng Commercial and Industrial Vocational School signed an industry–academia cooperation agreement with Ponsfu Development Company today, under which NT$30 million will be invested to build ChatGPT software and hardware for the school and set up a compute center. Besides business-promotion use, the compute center will make Dacheng a central school for OpenAI-related education and training, helping run AI-related course design, teaching materials, classroom exercises, teacher training and outreach for junior-high, senior-high and vocational-school teachers and students, and driving vocational schools to train AI talent.

Dacheng Principal Lin Chih-chung said that, through the introduction of former principal Huang Shu-tung, the school signed this industry–academia cooperation agreement with Ponsfu Development Company and will cooperate with ChatGPT, with equipment, resources, talent and funding being injected into Dacheng. In the future ChatGPT will become a teacher’s “teaching assistant” in education, teaching everyone how to use AI to lighten workloads and even integrate it into teaching, fully upgrading and guiding Dacheng into the OpenAI education and training center and base for central Taiwan. In the future it can help senior-high, vocational and even junior-high teachers and students nationwide design AI-related courses, teaching materials, classroom exercises and teacher training, while applied-course training and teaching strategies in the ChatGPT field will all be held at Dacheng. Building an AI school, with OpenAI, is only the first step.

Principal Lin pointed out that in February this year the school formed a strategic alliance with Taiwan Steel Technology University to improve its schooling, and today it signs an industry–academia cooperation agreement with Ponsfu. Under the impetus of the Jensen Huang wave, he hopes more students will have the chance to catch the ChatGPT and OpenAI wave and transform themselves. The school’s information-technology advancement class and its electrical and plumbing technology department will be the best and fastest shortcut for everyone who wants to connect with OpenAI. Everyone is welcome to join Dacheng and witness their own growth and future.
